 “Tripura currently ranks second in North Eastern region in milk production”

AGARTALA, October 30, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has underscored the importance of making the state’s Veterinary College as one of the best institutions in the country. He stated that Tripura currently ranks second in the North Eastern region in milk production and aims to achieve self-sufficiency in milk and egg production in the near future. 
Speaking at the 17th Foundation Day ceremony of the college Thursday, Dr Saha assured measures to address the faculty shortage at the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in RK Nagar and stressed the need for students and faculty to update their studies to keep pace with the times in the era of AI and 5G.
He mentioned that the state has grown significantly in terms of livestock production. 
The Chief Minister also highlighted the Green Animal Food Development Project, which has started cultivating 286 hectares of land with the beginning of duck and chicken farming under the Chief Minister's Animal Resources Scheme. 
He encouraged the college to gain fame not only in India but also globally. He announced the construction of SHIJA Hospital in the area, with the groundbreaking ceremony expected on November 5.
The event was attended by various officials and dignitaries.
