31 cadets selected on merit, given certificate of appreciation

REGIONAL, February 23, 2024: The felicitation ceremony of the NCC Band Cadets from Nagaland who took part in the Republic Day Parade 2024 was held with the Governor La Ganesan as Special Guest at Raj Bhavan in Kohima Friday. The programme was organised by the department of Youth Resource & Sports, Kohima & NCC GP Kohima.
Speaking during the programme, the Governor expressed his happiness seeing the captivating show given by the NCC girls’ band during the function. The Governor congratulated the 31 cadets from Nagaland who demonstrated their skills and achieved their goal of participating in the parade.
He lauded the Nagaland Government, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and the North East Region Directorate of the NCC for their role and support in grooming the young cadets. The Governor added that such support will undoubtedly encourage these young cadets to strive for excellence in the future and to become conscientious citizens of our country.
Governor appreciated the 31 NCC girls’ contingent from our beautiful state of Nagaland who has shown exemplary performance and dedication, carrying the flag of our culture and heritage with grace and vigor for all to see during the Republic Day 2024. He said that selected through a rigorous and demanding process, these cadets have proven that hard work, discipline, and a zeal for excellence are the hallmarks of all great achievements.
As the Governor of Nagaland, he was filled with pride at their accomplishments. Honoring the cadets, the Governor said that it is truly inspiring to see the youth take on such challenges, achieve greatness and thereby inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio who also spoke during the function said that it is a moment of joy to see the NCC cadets of Nagaland creating history by being a part of the first-ever NCC Girls Brass band who had marched on Kartvya path during the Republic Day Parade 2024. He said that the NCC, which solemnly pledge to always uphold the unity of India to take up a secular outlook and immerse into the selfless service of the nation has been playing a pivotal role in moulding and shaping our youth to become responsible citizen of the nation.
He also said that it was also a joyous moment for the state to witness a Naga Girl, Ruyangunuo Kense leading the Delhi police during the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
Maj Gen Gagan Deep ADG, NCC NE Region DTE in his short speech said that the 31 cadets were selected on merit and assured that many more cadets will be given such opportunities in the near future.
The Governor also handed out Certificate of Appreciation all the cadets.
Advisor Youth Resource & Sports, S Keoshu who gave the welcome addressed congratulated all those participants who have brought laurel to our states. He also encouraged the young cadets to strive harder and continue to take the paths of their seniors to bring pride and honour for the state.
The programme was chaired by Commissioner & Secretary YRS Wezope Kenye while the vote of thanks was rendered by Brigadier Dipankar Saha Group Commander NCC Group, Kohima. It was also attended by Abhijit Sinha, Principal Secretary and Home Commissioner Nagaland, NCC officials, Principals, Associate NCC officers, Cadets and Parents.
