UPSC to mark 100 years of its existence with a series of events
Yearlong centenary celebrations will begin on October 1 next

NATIONAL, August 12, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a Constitutional recruitment authority in India, is marking its 100th anniversary with a series of events and activities. Yearlong centenary celebrations will begin on October 1 next and continue until October 1 2026.
Established in India on October 1 1926, the Commission was initially named as the Federal Public Service Commission (1937) was renamed as the Union Public Service Commission with the adoption of India's Constitution on January 26, 1950. Since its inception, UPSC has been a symbol of transparency, fairness and meritocracy, ensuring the selection of the most deserving candidates through a rigorous and impartial process for senior-level positions in Government services.
As part of the celebrations, UPSC plans to release a logo and a tagline symbolising its service to the nation. Various new initiatives and reforms are also being planned and will be launched during the Centenary Year.
UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar stated that the Centenary Year celebrations provide an opportunity to look back at the Commission's legacy, reflect on improvements and plan a roadmap for the next 100 years of glory.
